STYLE ADVICE: Light Wash and Faux Shearling

Ran into this very stylish gentleman while roaming around the streets of Paris. His edgy street style look really called my attention. It was very simple, yet eye-catching. His longer-than-usual casual T-shirt, his perfectly black ripped jeans, his cool glasses, his shearling lined jean jacket, and his staple sneakers work in great harmony. Nothing competes, it all just works.

Light blue is certainly a color of choice for this new year, and this light wash, powdered blue denim jacket falls right on track.

Consistent with the light denim is shearling, which has also been featured heavily on the streets. Light shearling works wonderfully paired with tans, softer browns and denim. These colors work well as staple pieces for these colder months, but keep an open mind when it comes to changing up your looks with shearling. Like this Fashionisto did, try incorporating this trend with pieces that feature denim to achieve a classic look. This denim/shearling jacket is incredibly versatile, especially for more casual looks.

A relaxed silhouette such as this one will be big this year as well. Tailoring is getting softer, pants are getting wider, and looser fits are becoming more and more popular. It still looks great, it’s just easier to wear and way more comfortable.

The light wash denim trend doesn’t stop here. Try incorporating your denim jacket in edgier pieces, including ripped jeans. This is the ultimate look for casual wear. Invest in some denim jackets, pair them with stable pieces, be bold, add patches, wear glasses, and whatever you do, be confident. That way you’ll rock your look no matter what.
