STYLE ADVICE: Hats On to the New Year

Hey Fashionista/os! Hope everyone had a fantastic holiday season and a very happy new year! Can you believe spring semester is about to begin already? Time sure does fly when you’re having fun and sleeping until noon everyday (just kidding)! With winter break quickly coming to an end and a new year already in full swing, I find myself looking through my old clothes, wondering what 2016 trends to leave in the past. There is one, however, that I can’t seem to let go of. Baseball caps have been a staple accessory in essentially all of my outfits. Being a college student in one of the most famous, fast-paced cities in the world, there is no time to waste when it comes to clothes. City girls/guys need something trendy, simple, and comfy in order to look effortlessly stylish while listening to four hour lectures on a Monday afternoon!

Baseball caps are not only used on the field, but on the streets as well. They are a perfect way to make any outfit look fun and casual, even when you put the outfit itself together five minutes before class starts. The Fashionista pictured knows how to easily bring her look together by perfectly accessorizing her outfit with a baseball cap. She matched her cute cap with a long-sleeved crop top, adding a splash of color, and a pair of cuffed, distressed jeans, both purchased from Forever 21. The distressed jeans and crop top combo is my personal favorite. Not only do the jean details add a bit of edge to any simple look, but the high-waisted fit complements the crop top exceptionally well, without showing too much skin. Sometimes, I also like to switch it up and replace the crop top with a plain bodysuit for more comfort and versatility.

Now, on to more details! This outfit would have went perfectly with a bold sneaker, but why not take the look to the next level? This Fashionista decided to pair her classroom turned street style outfit with a pair of laced booties. The black color of the booties makes them easy to match and the lace detailing on the back, instead of the front, adds a bit of a twist to a very basic outfit. Plus, I can’t get enough of those block heels!

Hopefully, this recap (get it?) of one of last year’s biggest trends continues to make a name for itself in the new year. Good luck, Fashionistas and Fashionistos!
