STYLE ADVICE: Gallery Garments

Do you have an amazing event to go to but don’t know what to wear? No worries, this Style Guru is here to help you.

As an art student and gallery attendant, I am constantly going to different gallery openings. It’s pretty common to see people dressed in either blacks and dark tones, or funky patterns and eclectic combinations. I, myself, am known for wearing a high-waisted skirt with a toucan print. But, I attend so many art events that sometimes I run out of ideas on what to wear. I start to feel like I keep repeating the same outfit over and over again. This is when I look to other students on my campus and at art shows for inspiration.

This fun-loving Fashionista knows that dark and simple is a truly classic look. She’s wearing a navy blue, button-down blouse with gray skinny jeans. The blouse can be feminine or androgynous, depending on what suits you best. Layering gold necklaces elevates this look from cute to classy, and adds a little extra sparkle! This Fashionista added her own personal touch by adding a black hat and floral Oxfords. She loves to talk about how she has a specific pair of shoes that she wears with any one of her outfits.

If you love this look but do not frequent art galleries, have no fear. It’s also great for going to the theatre, concerts, and dance performances. Rock your own version of this classy look next time you support the arts!
