STYLE ADVICE: Comfort Hacks for Him

As a female, there is nothing I envy more than the low maintenance I assume it takes to be a guy. Short hair, loose pants, no makeup, no bra, the list goes on and on. Of course these are all just my preconceived ideas of what it’s like to be a male, but my ideas held true after meeting this Fashionisto on campus.

“How long did it take you to get ready this morning?” was my first question. The answer I got was an unheard of “about five to 10 minutes.” I even went out of my way to find a male who wasn’t wearing sweats or a T-shirt, and still only five to 10 minutes—insanity. He told me about his outfit, and how his denim joggers were basically sweats that looked like jeans; they sure beat the skin-tight jeggings I try to pretend I’m comfortable in! Next, he told me about his flannel, aka cotton long sleeve with buttons. He said “flannels are the best because you look like you’re dressed up, but really they’re so comfortable.” Now moving on to accessories, again he proved me right. This Fashionisto embarrassingly admitted that he didn’t even have time to wash his hair before class today, so he threw on his favorite Tommy Hilfiger dad hat, and was on his way. Last but definitely not least, shoes: another thing I envy about men is their ability to pull off wearing sneakers with just about anything. So not only was he dressed in a nice button-down flannel, and comfy jeans, but he was wearing Nike running sneakers.

So I walked away from this with a few things in mind. First was that if he could skip washing his hair and throw on a hat—so could we ladies. Second was that for all of you men reading who think that getting dressed up is too much work or too uncomfortable, here is your solution. Go get that soft cotton flannel and those stretchy joggers, it’s possible to look great and physically feel great!
