STYLE ADVICE: Bright Colors and Bold Statements

From the moment I saw this Fashionisto, I knew his bold and vibrant style was one I must learn more about. He called his style eccentric-quirky and sometimes quirky-chic, depending on the event. Today men have become more comfortable with wearing bold colors and prints, and this Fashionisto shows us how it’s done. What’s not to love about his outfit? His Dia De Los Muertos button-down shirt is the first thing that caught my eye. It was love at first sight, and I couldn’t believe it was a thrift store find. If only we could all be so lucky. It was perfectly paired up with blue jeans, a mustard cardigan, black boots, and a blue felt fedora. I also love how he took it a step further by mixing prints. He had on tribal print socks and a cat printed reusable canvas tote. He had so much going on with this outfit, but it all made sense the way each item complimented the other.

Statement pieces are also something to keep in mind when working with colors and prints. It can be a T-shirt, a button-down, or even an accessory. Pick your primary focus and style around it. Our Fashionisto’s statement piece was his mustard cardigan. As simple as it may seem, he’s had it for four years and has kept it in great condition. It is actually one of his favorite pieces because of the color. It compliments a lot of his outfits and goes with just about anything.

If you love this Fashionisto’s style and want to give it a try, thrift stores are where you want to go. This style is not limited to a specific trend, but can be a mixture of many. You are in control. Major retailers and department stores tend to concentrate on current trends, where as thrift stores provide a wide selection. The best part is being able to revamp your closet without breaking your wallet.
