STYLE ADVICE: Balance Is Key

In my eyes, winter is the best season for fashion. From cozy coats and booties, the possibilities to show off your personal style are endless. But as this next semester begins, there’s always the period of wanting nothing more than to throw on a hoodie and call it a day. The golden question goes like this: how do you achieve a put-together look, while also remaining comfortable throughout the day? This Fashionisto discovered that balance is key in his busy schedule.

When running around campus during winter, there’s a high chance you want some form of your outfit to be relaxed. My advice is to wear a warm, but stylish sweater. Sweaters maintain a perfect balance between a casual and structured look. You can spice it up by trying out a cropped sweater or a turtleneck style. This Fashionisto decided on a navy, blue knit sweater that he tucked in to keep his look together. He then combined that with a pair of rolled up pants that add a touch of prep to the outfit and some Reebok sneakers that make walking to class a breeze. Then, to add to the outfit’s easy, but composed look he added the accessories of a simple ball cap and a leather belt. Altogether, the pieces of this outfit exist as different entities by themselves, but combine them and you have the perfect ensemble for studying at a coffee shop or going to work.

Not only was this college student able to remain comfortable, but he also maintained a well-structured look that works for a job or internship. Hopefully the advice given in this article helps you determine what kind of balance you want to try in your next outfit, whether it be playful and chic, or casual and savvy. I hope you all have a great semester and try out something new in your personal style for this new year.
