STYLE ADVICE: A Fashion Yay or Nay?

On the streets of Staten Island I spotted a Fashionista that did denim on denim the right way. That might be shocking to hear considering that the last time someone might have worn denim on denim where it was fashionably acceptable was in the ’70s or ’80s. Just like how history repeats itself, so does fashion. Denim on denim is making a comeback.

I was always scared to wear two articles of denim because I never felt confident that they would both match. After spotting this Fashionista, she inspired me to want to be bold and try it out. I believe that double denim works if the top and bottom are the same hue. There are many different colors of jeans out there, but there are also only a certain number of shades of denim blue out there as well. In that case, it is possible to try and match the two denims as closely as possible.

Here, this Fashionista is wearing a pure blue denim jacket that is perfectly matched with her true blue jeans. Her hooded and oversized jean jacket stands out from the traditional jean jacket. Jean jackets come in a variety of styles such as tailored, belted, hooded, distressed, cropped, embellished, oversized, and so many more.

Underneath the jean jacket is a camo T-shirt. This adds color when matched with a pair of jeans, just like how this Fashionista styled it. Camo can be a pattern worn in a variety of ways for any night or day out with friends, such as a camo T-shirt worn with a pair of sneakers or a camo jacket over a dress.

I was always told to try to match my bag with my shoes. This Fashionista proved that is not necessarily always true. Pairing a neutral bag adds a new tone to the outfit that works. A neutral bag is an essential to any every day outfit.

This girl knows how to rock denim on denim with the right accessories.
