STYLE ADIVCE OF THE WEEK: Nothing But Neutrals

January 13th, 2015 at 2:00am

As we head further into winter, one of my absolute favorite color palettes is neutrals. I love how you can mix and match basic colors to create a simple yet standout look. Not to mention, black and white are forever go-tos in my wardrobe. I absolutely love how this Fashionista uses her neutral outfit as a blank canvas, adding the small details with her accessories.

This Fashionista has on a super cute white knit sweater with cutout details at the hem. Small details like this can add a whole new element to your look. This Fashionista has on a pair of medium washed jeans that add to the light look of her sweater. She adds detail to her look by throwing on a pair of light brown riding boots. I love the unusual color of these boots and how they play to the light and playful feel of her outfit. She keeps with the neutral theme with her oversized brown leather bag that is perfect for toting around all of your daily campus must-haves.

Having a blank canvas of neutrals like this allows for you to switch up your look with accessories, which also means you can wear this outfit in more ways than one. If this Fashionista throws on patterned scarf one day and a chunky necklace the next, she will get two completely different looks with the same outfit base. Using neutral colored pieces to your advantage like this is great for college students on a budget, since it allows for you to wear them in more ways than one.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Keep it simple and neutral and use accessories to make your outfit complete. The cold weather scarves and boot socks are the perfect way to add personality to your outfits.”
