My name is Michaela Salomon and this is my first year at McGill and first semester with CollegeFashionista. I am studying economics and business management, but design is a passion of mine. Growing up in Paris, fashion was a big part of my life. This beautiful, busy city, the mecca of fashion, introduced me to a world of style and individuality. I love putting things together. I love building new looks. I love taking inspiration from the stylish people everywhere, taking on the city in their own way. Like Gianni Versace said, “Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live.”
My personal style varies every day. I love classic lines, but there’s nothing better that one jacket or pair of heels or accessory that turns classic into something different. There’s no such thing as a bad day when you can dress like there’s nowhere you’d rather be!
I am so excited to intern for CollegeFashionista this semester. Paris is known for its stylishness on the streets, something that’s also so prominent in the lifestyle here in Montreal. Open your eyes, and the McGill campus is buzzing with fashion icons! I believe fashion is the most powerful art form. Your outfit can say a lot about you. Are you bold? Are you playful? Are you edgy? Every day is an occasion to look good, and it’s so easy to find your own style and make it work. I want to capture the everyday successes of students at McGill. I want to celebrate those brave enough to express who they are through clothing and I want to inspire others to do the same!
