Is it possible for classics to be trendy? Simply take a look at fashion at the moment and it certainly seems that way. When it comes to footwear, there’s nothing more classic than a great pair of sneakers. Steve Madden recently put a collegiate twist on their classic Ecntrcqt sneaker, releasing the shoe in red, green and purple. We all love our school, but it’s often difficult to translate that love into an everyday look. These sneakers make it easy to add a touch of school pride to your street-style look.

We caught up with our Style Gurus to give us the low-down on classic trends making a comeback on campus.

CollegeFashionista: Hey Style Gurus! Can you believe it’s already October? What’s happening on campus to save you from midterms?

Ellie Williams, University of Arkansas: I’ve been cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks for football season. There’s nothing quite like an SEC football game, even when I’m stressed.

Michelle Keswani, University of South Florida: Same! I love tailgate season.

CF: Tailgate season is the best! It never gets old. We’ve been talking a lot about fashion that never gets old recently. What are some trends you were happy to see make a comeback?

Courtney Quinn, Loyola Marymount University: I was so happy to see high-waisted jeans come back. My style is laid-back, so I wear them almost every day!

Angel Johnson, East Carolina University: Me, too! You can always find me in high-waisted jeans and a crop top. I’m normally wearing an all-black look, so these sneakers add a little sass to my look.

Olivia Stauber, University of Miami: I was super pumped to see silk camis and dresses make a comeback. These sneakers dress down the look making it perfect for a day of class.

CF: Everything our moms used to wear seems to be back, too! Do you ever steal pieces from her closet?

Jordan Shiley, James Madison University: Heck yeah! I always steel my mom’s shoes. She has an admirable collection, but we’re definitely not sharing these.
