ACCESSORIES REPORT: Too Cool for School

Accessories Report

Too cool for school. That’s what I thought when I spotted this Fashionisto passing me on my walk to class. From his electric blue backpack, to the beanie on top his head, to the kicks on his feet, he definitely stood apart from the rest. I loved every part of the Fashionisto’s outfit, and he encompasses many trends that are sweeping across the Marist campus. With the start of spring break, venture out into the retail world and see what items you can find to make your wardrobe original and fresh. Go grab your beanie, go grab your shades and you’ll have a spring break that’s one for the books.

The part of his ensemble that stands out the most is the bright blue backpack. The bag is definitely large enough to fit all your books inside and the pop of color allows for a different change of pace from the usual black Jansport type. When looking for a new backpack, don’t be afraid to go out of your comfort zone and purchase one with a little flair. Bright colors are great for the spring and I bet you’ll feel a lot happier if you add some colorful accessories to your wardrobe. Another statement piece this Fashionisto is sporting is his beanie. If you thought only the silhouette of jeans could get skinnier, think again. Designers have taken a new outlook on hats and made them slimmer than ever before. If you enjoy wearing hats and like to take chances, I suggest participating in the beanie craze for a new and inventive look.

We all know how much guys love their sneakers, and I couldn’t help but love this Fashionisto’s set of kicks myself. You can never go wrong with a classic pair of white sneakers, as they are the perfect match to any everyday outfit. Sneakers have taken on a whole new persona within a Fashionisto’s wardrobe, and I’ve been noticing high-tops, lots of colors and even embellishments around campus. Whether you’re wearing your kicks to class or the gym, invest in a pair that will last you throughout the spring and summer months. This way, you’ll be ready to engage in whatever fall sneaker trends come your way.

Spotted: Beanies and backpacks showing the runway what they are made of at the fall 2013 Louis Vuitton menswear show.
