FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Leanna Zhan

Fashionista Spotlight

I spotted this Fashionista on her break from working at Calvin Klein. Her balance between elegant and edgy really impressed me, so I had to stop her and ask a few questions.

Name: Leanna Zhan
Major: Economics
Year: Freshman

CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing?

Leanna Zhan: I am wearing a Calvin Klein peacoat, leopard-printed infiniti scarf and cross-body bag. My jeggings are from Hollister, and my boots are from Bass.

CF: How would you describe your personal style?
LZ: I see my personal style as what makes me comfortable, yet confident. I like to put together an outfit that is clean and not too extreme or busy. Personally, I find my style sometimes a bit edgy or a bit cute, depending on how I feel that day.

CF: Who do you look to for fashion inspiration?
LZ: I get fashion inspiration from my classmates, friends and siblings. When they wear something that I love, I am inspired to put together a similar outfit. And when I see something that doesn't fit right, I keep in mind to not wear the same thing.

CF: What’s your fall/winter must have item?
LZ: My fall/winter must have are definitely scarves. Infinity scarves are a must have because they can bring out an outfit and are easy to put together. A colored scarf is a must have because it brightens an outfit during the gloomy winter days, and can be worn in many different ways that can help change up your daily style.

CF: How many times a day do you change outfits?
LZ: I usually change my outfit once or twice. I try to limit myself to wearing one outfit each day because I don't want to waste and repeat outfits too much.

CF: What fashion item can you not live without?
LZ: A fashion item I can't live without is cross-body bag. I own a great variety of these bags, ranging in different sizes. They are easy to bring along and not a hassle to carry, and also convenient for different events.

How to: One of my favourite lazy-girl fashion tips is to invest in a winter coat that is stylish, functional, and mid-thigh length. No matter what you wear underneath, you will look put-together and cute. Wearing a cute outfit underneath has the added bonus of transitioning you from outside to inside, but in a pinch (or in the morning before class), a coat is your best friend.
