As a fashion photographer from Hong Kong, Lauren has a really fresh perspective on fashion and a strong sense of personal style. Her wardrobe is fantastic! Lauren's amazing photography and cool urban vibe really captured my interest. This look is what she wore to an interview with a local Boston modeling agency, and it captures the perfect mix of creative and classy as well as conservative and edgy.
Name: Lauren Engel
Major: International Business/Spanish
Year: Freshman
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing?
Lauren Engel: I have on a DKNY Denim Jacket, Resort sleeveless tank, white ripped skinny jeans and black Aldo boots.
CF: How would you describe your personal style?
LE: I like to intertwine bohemian/rocker/indie styles. I can't live without my guns and roses shirt but at the same time I live in my floral print dresses, rompers and maxis. I also collect a lot of rings; I have large gem ones, owls and pattered ones, which I pair with my indie style outfits. To keep my rocker look still chic I like to do a really sleek look with my hair back in a ponytail and black stone earrings.
CF: Who do you look to for fashion inspiration?
LE: I follow a a lot of fashion blogs. My favourite ones are www.dirtylittlestylewhoree.tumblr.com and http://madamejulietta.blogspot.hk/. I also really like model/photographer/blogger Zanita, because she's also a photographer and styles a lot of her shoots.
CF: What’s your fall must have item?
LE: Floral print Dr. Martens. They are a great transition between fall and winter. I can't let go of my floral print addiction especially in the dark colors of apparel in winter!
CF: How many times a day do you change outfits?
LE: Around two-three times a day. It's coldest in the morning so I throw on my leather jacket, and during the afternoon I change into either a denim jacket or a cardigan.
CF: What fashion item can you not live without?
LE: My black Aldo boots! I can pair them with ANYTHING.
How To: Lauren's ensemble consists of the classic jean jacket/graphic tee combo. She adds a lot of edge with her crisp white pants and ever-trendy black combat boots. Her elaborate and interesting accessories add interest, but she keeps her look simple with subtle makeup and clean, pulled back hair to let her natural beauty shine through. I'd advise taking a note from Lauren's look and let the clothes and accessories do all the talking. The overall effect is put-together but age-appropriate, making it the ideal interview outfit for a job in the fashion industry.
