The time has come in Davis when students are pushing their heavy jackets to the back of their closets and bringing forth, from the depths of storage, their coveted spring-time clothes. Leave it to California to begin the shift from winter to spring in the middle of February. As we all know, I am a huge proponent for anything and everything denim. This spring I am excited to break out my denim vests and high-waisted shorts, just like this Fashionista did.
Her look offers up a casual, but chic, way for Fashionistas to welcome spring. On a relaxing day in the main quad I spotted this Fashionista and loved her look right away. Denim vests will be a large part of every Fashionista’s wardrobe this spring as they offer a way to make any look look special. The pairing of a white lace top with black high-waisted shorts is classic, pretty and quite easy to pull-off.
One way to make this look your own would be to switch the traditional denim cut-offs with a pair of leather high-waisted shorts. This not only adds a bit of edge to the look, but also strays away from the every-day denim that we see during the spring. This look is also great for any of the music festivals that happen during spring, like Coachella and Stage Coach. For another spin on this outfit, swap out the lace tank for a basic lace bralet that shows off your midriff and pair it with a denim vest that still keeps you a bit covered up. Finish off the look with your favorite pair of combat boots and you’re ready to kick it in the quad between classes or rock out to your favorite bands with friends.
