WHAT TO WEAR: Midterms

What to Wear

Thanks to the quarter system, midterms come around quick at Northwestern. That means nights at the library are long and breaks are short. Nobody has time to think about what to wear when running on a few hours of sleep.

In addition to midterms, this Chicago winter has been one for the books. At any moment the weather is subject to change. Rain, snow, and shine can all happen in one day. Naturally, we’ve got to be prepared for it all. Good thing we have Fashionistos like this one to give us some tips.

This Fashionisto steps out in a comfortable style that’s also fit for a sudden climate change. His outfit is perfect for long days of class followed by endless nights hitting the books. If a chilly breeze comes through, a scarf and coat does the trick. And the best part of it all, it’s easy to pull off!

His quilted coat is one of the highlights of the outfit. I love when practical pieces can also be modern. Your coat doesn’t have to only keep you warm — you can make a fashion statement too.

The dark jeans are a classic. Always cool and appropriate for almost every occasion. The biggest drawback is finding a pair that fits perfectly. This Fashionisto snagged a skinny leg masterpiece. Not too tight, but still within the sweeping trend of skinny jeans for men. What I like most about this pair is the wash. The unique color takes a twist on the usual dark jeans but isn’t really colored denim, making it a sight for stylish eyes.

Last but not least — the shoes. Dr. Martens are some of the fliest ways to be punky fresh and the brown leather finish links it up with hipster chic. I recently bought a velvet pair, in purple of course, and I can’t get enough of them. These shoes are a definite must-have for all the fashion lovers out there. I promise they aren’t as intimidating as they may seem!

One Simple Change: Wear a blazer instead of the coat for a cool interview look.
