WHAT TO WEAR: Cold Weather

What to Wear

As winter rears up, the temperature in Evanston is constantly plummeting. A walk to class takes several minutes of mental preparation at the door before letting the frigid wind hit your cheeks. I’ve personally had to take breaks during my five minute trek to political science and remind myself turning back is NOT an option.

Even as the weather gets frosty, Northwestern students are still looking fresh. This Fashionista ventured out in a black on black outfit — always a perfect choice. The leather riding boots are warm, cute and excellent for treading to that one class that just has to be at the furthest corner of campus.

Even though the weather usually doesn’t permit, she refuses to let the cold deter her from wearing her peacoat — a must-have piece in my opinion. She stays toasty by layering the coat over a sweater and adding a scarf.

Winter tends to imprison the fashion world to gray, black and white. When I shop between the months of December to February I constantly ask myself, “Can I get some color up in here?!” To battle the dull effect the season brings, this Fashionista added a blue beanie to the look — practical and pretty.

Now for the good stuff, these accessories! The gloves and necklace coincide with the unmissable trend of studs and spikes. They’ve got their hold into us sartorial geeks and haven’t let go. I. LOVE. STUDS. My backpack, phone case and uncountable pieces of clothing are studded or spiked. Studded is the new bejeweled, and gives all of us who once adored bejeweled lettering (it’s okay, we all did at one point) another crack at the style.

One Simple Change: Add some color to your lips for a casual night out!
