My name is Silvia Isotti and I am a sophomore studying Fashion Merchandising at Marist College. I feel so lucky to be writing for CollegeFashionista again! As a native from a small farm town in northern Connecticut where most of my peers typically dress in jeans and a T-shirt, my love for fashion doesn’t get quite the appreciation one would hope for. Over the years I have learned to use my love for fashion to help me express my personality and individuality. Going to school in New York and making monthly trips into the city made me realize that there is so much more to the world than just a small town, I needed the adventure and excitement.
I think I could say that my style changes on a season-to-season basis. My wardrobe consists of some relaxed, boho-esque, summer items and some chic, “New Yorker,” winter items — I call it the best of both worlds. Lately, I can be spotted wearing an oversized knit sweater and a pair of leggings or pants, accessorized with scarves or jewelry. Blake Lively, Oliva Palermo and the Olsen twins have been my latest and greatest inspiration.
Street style is one aspect in the industry that I have always been drawn to. In my opinion, your personal style is even more important than what the designers and magazines are telling you to wear. I tend to find my inspirations for my own wardrobe by observing others around campus. Trust me, my campus is filled with inspiration.
I am excited to continue to gain experience within fashion journalism and photography. I am thankful to have the opportunity to be a Style Guru again this spring and represent the students at Marist College.
