Oh, how I love lunchtime. It is the time to eat to the heart’s content, chat with friends and finish homework assignments. I was walking through the “The Tunnel” (a quick walkway to the Campus Center) when I spotted this Fashionista. She was on her way to a lunch date, but this spotlight had to be done in the name of fashion. Isn’t it obvious why? She had a classic and chic look.
A peacoat, leggings and boots is a common combination, yet she was still able to make the combination stand out. The black peacoat is a staple for all wardrobes, and I loved how she paired basic black leggings with traditional brown Anne Klein boots. Her pure white beanie and scarf were warm, yet stylish accessories, and as I got closer I noticed her yellow purse. It was a unique choice for a school bag with just enough room to fit all of those textbooks and binders. By far, the best part about this Fashionista’s look is it proves that dressing classy will always be in style!
Name: Sophia Rivera
Major: Education
Year: Junior
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing?
Sophia Rivera: My peacoat is from Joujou. My knitted hat is from H&M and the loosely knit scarf was thrifted. The leggings are a simple pair from Target and the purse that I use as a bookbag was given to me by my aunt. The boots are Anne Klein.
CF: How would you define your style?
SR: I would say I am classic and urban with feminine touches. I enjoy simplicity in fashion. I love pairing solids, and I really love wearing black with a pop of color here and there. My favorite silhouettes are from the 1960s, and I can’t resist vintage dresses that fit and flare.
CF: Where are your favorite places to shop?
SR: Consignment shops like Buffalo Exchange are always fun because you never know what will be there. For some basics, I like H&M and Marshalls. ASOS is an online shop that I order from frequently. I think it is important to invest in some statement pieces and then find other interesting pieces at easily affordable stores such as thrift stores like Goodwill! I really enjoy browsing Anthropologie and ModCloth for inspiration.
CF: Who is your style inspiration?
SR: I really admire Zooey Deschanel, especially her fashion in New Girl. She always manages to pull off a feminine, but slightly retro look while always looking put together.
How To: To achieve this Fashionista’s classic look, check out how to build your wardrobe with these staples and basics.
