Hoboken is my afternoon lunch destination because of its array of small business coffee shops, restaurants and bakeries, including the famous Carlo’s Bakery. This small city is also filled with college-age and twenty-something residents who stay on top of the latest fashion trends. Heading to a coffee shop, I caught a glimpse of a Fashionista whose look was comfy, casual chic.
Her knowledge of layering and current trends was obvious in her outfit. She wore a military green puffer jacket on top of a plaid shirt, which is a must-have in every collegiate wardrobe. Her choice was to pair it with blue corduroys worn along with buckled ankle booties. I’d personally also love to see it paired with shorts and tights. She also handled her leather bag and paisley scarf with a pair of fingerless gloves that I found to be an interesting touch.
Given the amount of clothes she was wearing you’d think that this outfit broke the bank, but everything was reasonably priced. She knows how to stay warm with layers, stay current with trends and stay thrifty with deals. How does it get any better than that for a CollegeFashionista?
Name: Christina Gaughan

CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing?
Christina Gaughan: I got my corduroys from Forever 21. My boots are from H&M, and my check shirt is from Target. I got my coat in the UK from New Look . These are Eddie Bauer gloves, and my bag is from H&M.
CF: How would you describe your style?
CG: I usually look a little bit quirkier, but I’m on break from work. But it is not totally normal, but still kind of stylish.
CF: Where do you usually shop?
CG: Target and H&M. They are nice places to shop, and they are cheap.
CF: Whose style are you inspired by?
CG: I find ideas from people on the street. Especially being near New York, I see people wearing things that are really interesting.
CF: What is your favorite season to dress for?
CG: I like to dress for fall because it means being able to wear scarves and leather jackets, which are my two favorite things to wear.
