LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS: Red, White and Blue

Let's Hear it for the Boys

It doesn’t have to be the fourth of July to wear America's colors. This Fashionisto decided that it's never a bad time to wear red, white and blue so he pulled together this eye-catching outfit. I think this combination definitely creates a more regal or “American” vibe to your outfit, so keep that in mind when you're making an outfit focused on red, white and blue.

With that said this outfit is definitely well-done. He chooses to keep it simple and decides to go with a striped red shirt paired with a red sweater vest. Sweater vests with stripes have become a lot less common so now's a perfect time to bring them back. The look aims for simplicity without being boring and it definitely achieves it. As we transition from winter into spring your reds should gradually go from deep and luscious burgundies to fun, bright reds. This look is created with the navy blue pants as an accent. Navy is an amazing but incredibly underused color that deserves to be noted for its subtlety; it doesn't take away from the red and white stripes. It's a nice alternative to the standard khaki colored pant as well. The navy gives the outfit a darker, more serious tone, while khaki is a little light-hearted and fun.

If you're interested in creating this outfit yourself consider this navy sweater vest from Ralph Lauren. It provides a strong contrast with red stripes and shows a little more creativity than the red. If you're interested in good navy blue pants I feel I must suggest these Preston tissue chinos also from Ralph Lauren. Another alternative to the this Fashionisto's striped shirt is the Ben Sherman Chambray shirt. According to Style File, chambray has recently become a Fashion staple. Stay stylish and remember there's nothing wrong with showing a little patriotism with red, white and blue.
