TREND: Black Makes a Comeback
22Mar 11
Well, Fashionistas, it’s officially springtime! Pittsburgh has welcomed the new season with an unusually warm few days and beautiful rays of sunshine flooding the crowded streets. Naturally, Schenley Quad was packed with Pitt students. It was blatantly obvious that students had taken the time to rummage through their closets to pull out their favorite floral print dresses, denim shorts, or bohemian style blouses. Through all our favorite spring styles, I spotted this Fashionista daring to play her cards a little different.
The transition from winter to spring can be bittersweet for a Fashionista. The chilly winter weather makes black the dominant color in our wardrobes, making it difficult for us to say goodbye to our dark tones in favor of light ones as the weather becomes warmer. So don't be afraid to take it slow Fashionistas - adding subtle hints of color until you're ready for those favorite white cargos is never frowned upon!
In an (almost) all black ensemble, this Fashionista sports a black sun dress, black cardigan, black tights, and black gladiator sandals. Wearing all black is a risk most of us aren’t willing to take. Too much can make even the most positive of girls look a little depressing. This Fashionista shows us that black isn’t something that has to avoided, as long as you know how to add the right touch.
The first bold accessory this Fashionista has adorned herself with is a cheetah-print scarf. This takes the all black ensemble from dismal to daring with the snap of a wrist. She has also chosen to add a little color to her ensemble by adding red chiffon roses to her casual hairstyle and a classic bold red lip. Black and red are complementary colors when it comes to fashion, and are always a go when it comes to putting a dauntless outfit together such as this one.
Black can be bold, beautiful, and classic when worn in the right combination. Next time you're looking to add a little variety to your everyday wardrobe, or aren't quite ready to make the transition from winter to spring, don't be afraid to make a comeback with black!
Style On,
