STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Investment Pieces
27Jun 11
One piece of advice that I can't shake when I go shopping is "invest in accent pieces" (all thanks to my Mom). I find it über-difficult to spend $80 on a white T-shirt or more than $200 on great denim– it's just not rational to me. So, when I came across this Fashionista, the advice "invest in accent pieces" just screamed to me. She totally lived up to that advice. The great aspect about investing in accent pieces is that you can easily dress up any outfit, just like this Fashionista with her leggings and long cotton T-shirt, which she accented with Dolce & Gabbana cat-eye sunnies, a black leather cary-all purse and orange Tory Burch jelly flats.
My personal favorite accent pieces are sunnies, shoes, purses and jewelry, as well as some pieces of clothing like cashmere sweaters and jackets. Accents pieces, however, can vary from person to person depending on your style. I don't want to scare you when I say investment pieces, because I'm not advising to spend $1,200 on bag. Next time you go shopping, spend just a little more than usual on a quality item. Or, take the time to find it on sale too– trust me my wardrobe is living proof that it is possible.
