STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: California Cool
STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: California Cool STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: California Cool

I came across this Fashionista and had to stop her, because I loved her effortless mix of classics with the bold, which totally reminded me of the California-cool style that we natives rock. I felt for those of you who aren't West Coast locals it would be fun give my tips on how to emulate a California-cool style, which It is absolutely possible even if you aren't a native. Case in point–the adorable blonde I photographed, to my surprise, isn't a California native, but an East Coaster who just made her move to the West Coast last week.

One thing about California girls is that they're always rocking their best assets (it could be their shoulders, hair, eyes, height, etc.) in a cool and chic way. This Fashionista, who chose a bold short and oxfords, shows off her best asset (her long legs), and it totally rocks. The sun is usually shining too, so layers are important, which is why I loved her outfit. It is the perfect outfit for school, yet easily transitions to be appropriate for a spontaneous trip to the beach– once you lose the jean jacket of course. Another thing to note about California-cool style is that it is important to not just dress for one occasion, but to make sure your outfit easily transitions to everything your entire day entails.

So, just like the Parisians in France who possess a style that we all like to emulate, Californians do too, I've come to realize that it isn't jut a born-and-raised thing; it might just be something that's in the air. Or, in today's case, it's something that a Style Guru can help you emulate.

Oh... and you can never ever forget your sunnies

Style On,
