UDress, the student-run fashion publication at the University of Delaware, is hosting its Fifth Annual Fall Fashion Event this November 20, 2010. This is a greatly anticpated and exciting night for UDress members because it celebrates the launch of the magazine's fall "Movement" issue. At this event, magazines will be distributed, tasty treats will be served, guests can enter raffles sponsored by the magazine's advertisers, boutiques will set up tables where guests can purchase merchandise, and there will be a live fashion show. The fashion show allows guests to see their fellow classmates model clothes and accessories from various local boutiques. These looks are creatively styled by UDress's own style team. I was able to conduct a Q&A with each individual stylist to find out their thoughts on fashion and the runway show.

CollegeFashionista: What are 3 staples should every CollegeFashionista have in her closet?

Alexandra Davey: I would say any kind of great jacket that you could wear with anything, skinny jeans, and brown boots. I wear them with everything.

CollegeFashionista: What is your favorite trend this season?

Nicole Spellman: I really like the high sock trend that you wear under boots ..all the new knee high knits. I think it is something unique that hasn’t been back in style in a while. I think they look really cute with skirts.

CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your own personal style?

Brittany Kelly: I think my own style is a mix of laid back beach and bohemian styles with a lot of layering and New York City urban style..a cross between the two.

CollegeFashionista: When styling where do you draw inspiration from?

Brittany Kelly: I get the majority of my inspiration from street style blogs and I really like celebrities like Drew Barrymore and Mary Kate Olsen and combine it with the current trends that are out for this season.

CollegeFashionista: Favorite look being shown at UDress fashion show?

Teagan Thomas: We haven’t styled the looks yet but we are working with NV Boutique and they have a lot of cute dresses..a lot of long dresses and we have tall models so they will look really good. They are a confident look, there are sequin dresses, necklaces, and there are a lot of going out looks. On the runway it will look awesome. We are also working with Bloom which has cute vintage stuff..fun and punky outfits…different stuff that no one would think that people would wear. We are going to try to get as many looks as possible. I am excited for the variety of looks.

CollegeFashionista: What do you like the most about working as a stylist for UDress?

Teagan Thomas: Everything. I started last year and it was the first time we had the style time. I didn’t know what I was getting into. I don’t just style the day of. I book models, work with photographers, it is a full time job. We do not just do the styling at the show. We need to sell the clothes and magazine at the same time. We need to show the stores in a positive light. It is so spontaneous and such a rush when you see the magazine at the end and when see my name in the magazine. I am so amazed that we have this opportunity and magazine at Delaware that everyone knows about.

CollegeFashionista: If you had to pick one, which designers’ fall 2010 collection was your favorite and why?

Nicole Spellman: I really like Balmain by Christophe Decarnin because he uses a lot of sequins and there is the high shoulder trend in his collection and a lot of jewel tones and military inspired looks.

CollegeFashionista: Favorite stylist?

Alexandra Davey: Rachel Zoe, I really like watching her show because it is cool to see how styling can be a big profession and to see all of the clothes she gets to work with.

CollegeFashionista: Best styling advice college students should live by?

Caroline Laprise: I think it is important to actually get dressed in the morning and to have something unique and special about your outfit and having a unique mix instead of just wearing yoga pants to class every day.

CollegeFashionista: What do you want to do post-grad?

Caroline Laprise: I think it would be really cool to style for a big company like Urban Outfitters. I think styling is my ultimate goal but anything in the fashion industry.
