STYLE GURU BIO: Sasha Sommer

Style Guru Bio

My name is Sasha Sommer and I am a junior studying communications and French at the beautiful Santa Clara University, located in the Bay Area of California. One of the best things about living in the Bay is that people come from all over the country to live here. They bring their awesome and individual sense of style. With its proximity to San Francisco, I sometimes notice the influence of the city-style into the more rural parts around the Bay. I am so happy to be living in the sunshine state after growing up in the rainy Pacific Northwest, but I will always be a Seattle girl at heart.

My love of fashion started at an early age. I was dressing myself as soon as I had mastered the ability to reach the clothes in my closet. Needless to say, my taste had not quite developed at age one or two, but since then, it has been ever-evolving. It is a constant experimental process. Perhaps that’s the thing I love most about fashion: there really are no rules.

After I left Seattle to go to college in California, I realized that I loved the Seattle style–hipster. I can say I will forever go back to my roots and be influenced by this grunge-esque style, with a hint of vintage or thrift store influence. While my style has matured to what I would call “Euro casual,” I have never turned down trying a new look just because it doesn’t fit my regular pattern.

After living in Paris for a semester, I came back to America with a new take on fashion. I wanted to bring back a little Parisian vibe. Since then, I have attempted to incorporate some aspects of the European culture that I hope will inspire others. I have a simple style, but I love to add one thing to every outfit that makes myself stand out.
