FASHION FROM ABROAD: Sweet And Simple

Fashion From Abroad

I was walking down the street of Innsbruck, Austria when my friend turned to me and said, “she looks cute.” I turned to see a girl walking down the street in a beige, pleated dress. The Fashionista's dress was belted with a brown vest. I started to chase down the girl and eventually flagged her down. Even with our language barrier I managed to tell her how much I liked her outfit.

Beige is a neutral color and perfect for summer 2012. I love color as much as the next girl, but always making a statement with a bright color is not the only option to be fashionable: a neutral color palette keeps an outfit simple and at ease. Neutral colors have been spotted in Givenchy’s 2012 collection, and was also a common pallet in Cacharel’s 2012 Collection.

To continue her simple color palette this Fashionista paired her beige colored dress with a brown vest, a black belt and black shoes. The black belt draws attention to the Fashionista’s waist and gives the outfit more shape. Austria’s weather is unpredictable. It can be breezy in the morning then searing in the afternoon while rain showers are on and off through out the day. The vest is a nice way to cope with indecisive weather providing a layer to the Fashionista’s dress.

To continue with this Fashionista’s theme of simplicity, her accessories followed the same trend. Her simple gold necklace did not distract from her outfit but became a compliment for her relaxed style.

This Fashionista found a balance between being at ease with her outfit as well as being stylish. Neutral color palettes are an excellent way to find this compromise in fashion. Neutral colors can also make an outfit chic and slimming.
