STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Smells Like School Spirit

Uncategorized

NYU is not exactly the most school spirited place. I for one have not attended one school athletic event and the closest thing we have to a campus quad is Washington Square Park. Not to mention I've heard people describe their experience here as, 'Living in New York City and happening to take classes at NYU.' This attitude is reflected in the student body and the fashion they choose and you rarely see many people sporting our colligate violet.

This Fashionisto shows that representing the Violets (or Bobcats if you want) doesn't mean you have to veer from subtlety or personal style. What stood out to me most is the fact that he wore his NYU shirt underneath a plaid flannel, which, to me, seems as if it is  the go to piece for so many (maybe even too many) students who roam the Village. That made this outfit seem just so quintessentially NYU to me. I also like the little touches he added like his clubmaster sunglasses, loafers and dark jeans that keep the outfit interesting.

While I love this look that is not to say that a violently violet sweatshirt can't be a cute way to show school spirit. Old school inspired colligate wear such as a crew sweatshirt or a vintage inspired NYU T-shirt are my favorite way to wear NYU apparel.
