Summer is a time for tanning on the beach, (or quad, if you prefer) eating ice cream, wishing it were winter again and wearing summer wedges, like this Fashionista. The great thing about shoes is their diversity and ability to please everyone. Carrie Bradshaw buys them as a coping method for break-ups. Nelly raps about them and some celebrities have walk-in closets dedicated to their fancy footwear. Even though it can take time to find the perfect shoe, once you have it you know you’ve formed a lifelong friendship. A nude wedge is truly a great shoe, and friend, to have because of the versatility. Nude wedges can be dressed up, dressed down, paired with any color or pattern and can be worn in every season.
This Fashionista’s wedges looked stylish with her belted maxi dress and kept her summer look fresh, yet casual. Wedges are the best of both shoe worlds because they are comfortable like flats, once you move past the blister stage, and can still have the height of a heel. Lately, the shoe has become a lot more colorful and pattern-based, like this ikat wedge from Steve Madden. Like a patterned dress can be paired with a solid shoe, a wedge like those would look great with a bright red dress and layered necklaces.
In order to comfortably, but fashionably, beat the heat that Boston has finally begun to share with us, an outfit like this Fashionista’s would be a great start. Take any looser-fitting summer dress and then belt it with a plain braided belt or a glitzier one, like this from Anthropologie. Then, of course, your outfit is a blank canvas for unique accessories and a funky tote bag, if you choose. Don’t forget to finish it all off with your favorite pair of summer wedges!
