Shopping is typically a sport that I enjoy participating in. Until, however, it comes to shopping for bottoms. This is an area that takes strategic planning, time and some luck. That’s why I was incredibly relieved when I put on my AE Denim Boy Fit Midi shorts. There was no squeezing into them or discomfort when I slipped them on and they are cut at a flattering length. What I really love about them is the dark wash and the slight stretch in the denim. This makes the style more accessible to a variety of body types.
Since Boston is in full-fledged winter mode, putting on these shorts only worsened my spring fever. The chilly weather also influenced my decision to pair them with opaque black tights, my black booties and a vintage jacket. In order to highlight the great fit of these shorts, I tucked in my favorite chambray button-down on top. If you don’t own a denim button-down yet, then take a look at this AE Denim Western Shirt from American Eagle Outfitters.
Keeping up with the winter and slightly retro influence of my outfit, I accessorized with a white geometric necklace and fake pearl bracelets. I always think it’s important to be wearing at least one accessory with any outfit and American Eagle Outfitters has a lot of versatile options. This AEO Triangle Chain Necklace would look cute with any color shirt or dress you have because of the gold and silver accents. For a more playful option, take a look at this AEO Tassel Necklace.
Once the weather warms up, I would style these shorts with this AE Twisted Chiffon Tank and these DV By Dolce Vita Hala Huarache flats. With a lightweight cardigan and some oversized sunglasses, this would be a great look for the spring and summer. In the meantime, I would wear them with this AE Open Stitch Cable Sweater over a button-down and some fun patterned tights. Since jewelry doesn’t have to adapt to the weather, I would add some stylish necklaces and bracelets to all of the outfits I wear with these shorts.
