Summertime is just around the corner, as finals and the end of the semester vastly approach on NAU’s campus. For some students, this week is filled with last minute papers, projects and trips to the library for late night cramming; but for others this week is merely the start of summer due to preparation and ease associated with the dreaded finals week. I will admit, I am one of those hated students who is stress free come finals week due to my organized study habits. With that said, I was enjoying the beginning of summer as I spotted this Fashionista chatting with friend’s downtown. Lucky for me, she too was sailing through this week as the majority of her finals were already completed. This Fashionista stands out in the perfect summer-kick-off look. She sports a green maxi skirt paired with a skull-embellished gray tank top, orange beaded teardrop necklace, turquoise and orange beaded sandals and a multicolored striped leather backpack. Now, let’s check out this Fashionista’s favorite staples and get a quick tutorial on how to easily recreate this bold summer look.
Name: Carly Froyum
Major: Public Relations and Advertising
CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your overall sense of style?
Carly Froyum: Simple yet unique. I really like bold colors, so I like to do one statement piece and leave everything else mellow to really show off a simple, yet unique, look.
CF: What inspired your look today?
CF: The fact that it is gorgeous out! Everything is turning green and wonderful, so I decided to match by wearing my green maxi skirt paired with fun bold colors and accessories.
CF: Where are your favorite places to shop?
CF: I like places you would never think to shop. I love The Basement in Flagstaff, but I also like Target and Ross because you can find cool and easy pieces that can be paired with just about anything.
CF: What is your favorite season to dress for?
CF: Winter because I love layering and boots!
CF: What is a piece in your wardrobe that you cannot live without?
CF: Other than my sports jerseys, I would say my salmon pink pants. They’re great because they can be paired with any color, so I usually wear them weekly!
