STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Hot Pants

Style Advice of the Week

As the winter comes to an end, we’re starting to feel the warm days in the Valley area once again. Chunky sweaters and boots disappear, making room for spring season outfits. Two things that are not leaving, however, are a cool color palette and denim, which are our friendly trends all year round.

Denim and a pop of bright color; what a sweet combination! Today this Fashionisto color lover shows us how to pull off orange pants in a subtle way, and how to look flawless for a busy morning at school.

Personally, I believe that orange is a hard color to pull of. It is bright, so you have to be careful about the colors you pair it with so you won’t look too flashy.

This Fashionisto took a risk by wearing Abercrombie & Fitch orange pants. He paired it with a striped light denim shirt and navy jacket from Gap, leather shoes from H&M and a leather messenger bag from Pelle Studio.

If the color of the pants is too bright, you can combine it with a light button-down shirt and a darker cardigan or jacket on top. Button the shirt all up, and you can even add a bow tie. If you are not a layering professional, then pair pants with dark denim, navy or gray. Stripes, polka-dots or squared shirts fit perfectly as well, like this one from Express.

Fashionistos, it is time for you to get inspired, try harder and buy something other than boring, everyday dark jeans. Dare to be different, and add a little bit of sophistication to your regular days. Leather shoes, like this Ted Baker  pair, also make a gentlemanly statement. Fancy shoes are not just for cocktail parties anymore.

Bottega Veneta men’s fall 2011 collection showcased similar orange pants combined with oversized cardigans. However, this summer season is about color, color and more color — So be ready for a pants fire!
