More often than not, I find myself gravitating towards comfortable clothing with a fashionable edge. My most recent purchases include an oversized striped polo with a long tail and a men’s crewneck sweatshirt. I was also lucky enough to inherit an old, perfectly worn-in flannel from my boyfriend. It’s easy to look fashionable with these androgynous pieces and still be super cozy for a long day of school and work, but sometimes I crave glamour. What girl doesn’t love to put on some high heels, don some sequins, and rock some false eyelashes? Those things just aren’t practical for everyday life though, especially for a college student.
When I spotted this Fashionista strutting down State Street, I knew my glam fix was attainable. Fur coats are super trendy in the fashion scene right now, and I am thrilled to announce that they have made their way to Madison! What better way is there to instantly add some much needed glitz to always casual ensembles than to add a little fur? The juxtaposition is to die for.
The next time you’re feeling drab, grab a fur coat instead of your normal puffy parka. Your look can be a little funky if you go for something colored or shaggy, or more classic whether you go for horizontal or vertical pelts. Leather gloves help keep the glamour quota up, but in order to keep the look appropriate for everyday, skip a dress and heels. Stick with jeans or black leggings tucked into your everyday flat boots. Finish your outdoor look off with a cable knit scarf or snood to finish that great high-and-low-contrast off perfectly.
