TREND: Maxi Dress Do

Uncategorized

Today’s Fashionista catches eyes in a red maxi dress with one ruffled shoulder and a white unbuttoned jacket. Her gold sandals glowed just as much as her blonde hair in the sunlight that has finally graced the east coast.

Maxi dresses are definitely trendy, and it’s a shame more people don’t wear them. They are a flattering style that most people mistakenly believe cannot be worn if they are not built like a model. Those that lack height can still wear the maxi dress! Proportions are played with by wearing the correct bust line and waistline. She chose a high bust line to lengthen the appearance of her legs. The ruffle accentuated her bust, while keeping it daytime appropriate instead of revealing a low cut. Get a similar look to today’s Fashionista by wearing an off the shoulder maxi dress from Lulus.com in either pink or black. Try pink for daytime wear, and the black at night.

To keep warm at either night or in air conditioning, pair up a bright contrasting color to off set all of the original solid color. This Fashionista wore a white jacket to balance out all the red she had going on, and rightfully did so for a semi-casual look. This Nanette Lepore jacket from Nordstrom, would make the perfect piece to throw on with a maxi dress, and is just a great piece to have in you closet. It can be dressed up and down with its structured fit and casual tone.

Don’t be afraid to add a little sparkle, by wearing a metallic sandal. Today’s Fashionista wore gold sandals adorned with metallic flowers. Score a cute pair at Forever 21 that along with baring a bow, are decorated with pearls. A bold dress and sweet shoes can create an irresistibly put together and fashionable look.

Hint: As my last CollegeFashionista post, I want fashionistas/os alike to make sure they are always comfortable in what they wear. I don’t mean ready to take a nap, favorite pair of sweatpants comfortable. We should all feel good in what we wear, because that feeling and sense of confidence cannot be faked. Wear what you love, and love what you wear.
