STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Bring On The Cold

Style Advice of the Week

Leaves are changing, temperatures are dropping and coats are coming out of storage. This is what has been happening on the University of Denver campus. It’s time to dig into the back of our closets and pull out all the coats, boots, sweaters, scarves and gloves that we put away last March. Fall weather is in full swing!

This Fashionisto is prepared to take on the cold in his navy blue buttoned pea coat. He makes his look edgier by adding green, camouflage pants and a blue beanie. He really took a risk by pairing two bold colors together, and it worked!

Pea coats are a must for the fall season because they are the perfect weight for those chilly days and nights. They can also polish off any outfit and give everyone a slimming fit. This is why I believe that pea coats are a great investment piece for everyone's closet. They continue to reappear each season and I see no sign of them stopping. All designers continue to provide new jackets every year to accommodate for the huge demand. If you’re looking to splurge on this eternal piece, for women, take a look at this Rachel Roy Double Breasted Jacket. I am a huge fan of the added pleats in the back. For men, try on this rag & bone double breasted button fastening pea coat for size. Its charcoal color can give any outfit the perfect finishing touch.

If there is any style advice that you follow this fall 2012 season, let it be in the direction of the pea coat. This piece is there to provide everyone with the exceptional fit and the warmth you need to get you through the season.
