STYLE GURU BIO: Samantha Birns

Style Guru Bio

After a semester of spotlighting Binghamton’s trendiest Fashionistas/os, I’m back this spring to write about WHAT TO WEAR. This column is here to provide inspiration from fellow stylish students for those days when you find yourself rummaging through your dorm closet, aimlessly assembling outfits.

Over the past few months, I watched as Bing’s campus transitioned from summery shorts and cropped tops to fall raincoats and flannel and the chunky knits and knee-high socks of winter. Now, I’m excited to scope out the glamorously dressed among mounds of mid-season snow and then admire an influx of color when spring emerges and upstate temperatures soar.

As a sophomore in college, my own style continues to mature. I love the sleekness of a blazer and the simplicity of skinny jeans and a sheer button-down. Platform heels are a must-have, as are sweaters in any shape or form. My go-to accessories range from infinity scarves, rings and statement necklaces to my classic Rebecca Minkoff mini M.A.C. clutch in black.

With 2012 behind us, I’m planning to experiment with different styles and adopt the latest trends. I don’t doubt the Fashionistas/os here at Bing can offer insight into chic, wearable looks. As a returning Style Guru, I hope to convey fresh ideas and help amp both your wardrobes and mine.
