Color is a dynamic centerpiece to all carefully crafted ensembles. Whether conspicuously bright hues or subtle earth tones, the palette of shades remains infinite. Many students overlook the value of tints in choosing everyday attire. To transcend the mundane, clichéd color schemes manifesting campus, seek inspiration from varying seasons and trends. This week’s Fashionista fused the popular ombré fad with classic, autumnal wear. Assembling an effortless fadeout, this Fashionista’s outfit encapsulates the concept of color. Her charcoal grey sweater transitions gracefully into dip-dye pants, paired with cream Converse for the ultimate lightening effect. The sequined elbow patches and accompanying accessories add eccentricity to this Fashionista’s look, including a studded leather tote bag that intensifies the monochromatic spectrum.
Name: Erin Rosenblum
Major: Undeclared (Minor in Cinema)
Year: Sophomore
CollegeFashionista: Who is your style icon and why?
Erin Rosenblum: My celebrity style icon is without a doubt Nicole Richie. She knows exactly what looks good with what, and is the perfect mix of boho and edge. She's flawless.
CF: How has working in the fashion industry influenced your personal style?
ER: Working at LF Stores cemented my love for fashion. I learned to take risks with clothes: sometimes pairing the craziest things together makes the best looks. I also learned to dress for you and not for anyone else, and to make a trend your own rather than follow it exactly. Most importantly, I’ve realized that clothes are just clothes, and getting dressed every morning should be fun!
CF: What are your Binghamton winter essentials?
ER: Chunky scarves! I like infinity ones in neutral colors or rich fall shades like burgundy and deep orange. Also socks on socks on socks… patterned socks or even simple ones peeping out the top of boots makes every outfit more interesting.
How To: The ombré trend is a novel way of establishing distinctive color schemes. Using single hues in successive shades, any Fashionista can create an extraordinary ensemble. For a look like today's Fashionista’s, match these leggings with a white top and black ankle boots. But for a more formal approach, try this maxi skirt with a silky tank and complementary purple heels. No matter the means, incorporating ombré into your wardrobe will guarantee originality and passerby praise.
