My personal style is the product of taking my wardrobe and adding a unique twist that reflects my personality. I believe my style is signature yet versatile rather than what’s considered trendy or in at the moment. When I decide my style should change it’s because of my own perception of what is fashionable.
While most college students are comfortable in sweats, a tank and sneakers, I'm more cozy in chinos, accessories, a short sleeve button down and a fashionable yet casual boot or loafer. I believe I should always look my personal best because in the college world everyone’s watching and you never know who you may run into that day. It’s also a major self-esteem booster when you're constantly complimented on your look of the day; when you look good, you feel good.
What I love about fashion is that it's limitless, expressive and passionate. It allows designers to create garments and accessories they believe are missing from the world. As both a graphic and fashion designer, I'm convinced art and fashion go hand in hand with street style and creativity. As long as we are able to express ourselves through our perceptions of fashion and know there are Fashionista/os that will rock the look their own way, we are more inspired to continue designing.
I’m excited to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista because it will allow me to see what inspires the look of others. It's a common misconception that Indiana State isn’t fashion conscious because of its size but as a Style Guru I have the chance to showcase my school’s more fashion-forward individuals.
By becoming the first, and currently only Style Guru for Indiana State University, I want to make one simple statement: WE ARE HERE!
