FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Sara Nielsen

Fashionista Spotlight

You know that time when it’s in between winter and spring; the remaining cold air is still lingering, while the fresh flowers are starting to bloom. You start to notice the birds chirping and the fashion changing. It’s cold enough to wear a sweater, but warm enough to show your legs. Why not combine the best of both worlds? This Fashionista is from Sweden and is happily enjoying the Florida weather. (I bet her friends are jealous). I love how she mixed her delicate lace skirt with a thick cable knit sweater. She makes everything else seems so effortless. Whether you are from Sweden, Spain or America, this look is perfect for any campus, everywhere.

Name: Sara Nielsen

Major: Interpersonal-Organizational Communications

Year: Third year

CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing and where did you get it from?

Sara Nielsen: The shoes are from Sweden; the shirt is from another Swedish store called Vila. The skirt is from Forever 21 and the bag is also from Sweden from a store called MQ.

CF: Have you noticed a difference in fashion between Sweden and America?

SN: I think that it is more defined in Sweden; I think more people are fashion interested.

CF: Is there something particular that you like about the American fashion?

SN: The things I like are sort of the stuff I see at home. There is a girl in our class and I really like her style.

CF: Is there anything that you are missing from your home that you wish America had here, pertaining to fashion?

SN: I think that Forever 21 is a lot like Swedish fashion. I do a lot of internet shopping from England like ASOS; there is also Chicki. I think those are the two biggest ones, but there is also a store called Nelly.

How To: While sweaters are perfect for the winter, try laying this cable knit sweater over this lace skirt or a dress lace. From this point, it really depends on how you want to style and accessorize the rest. Tuck in the front half of the sweater into the skirt and add a cross-body bag to make it more fun.
