My name is Rani Morales and I am a junior at Florida State University, majoring in Retail Merchandising and Product Development and minoring in Business and Communications. This is my first time with CollegeFashionista, so I am beyond excited to contribute as a Style Guru this upcoming spring!
I was born in the Philippines, and eventually moved to San Diego, California and then again to Jacksonville, Florida. Having been immersed in such different areas throughout my life so far, I grew up embracing diversity and culture. I think that explains my love for fashion, really: its ability to create an outlet for everyone to uniquely express themselves.
On a typical day, you can probably spot me wearing black leggings and nude flats or skinny jeans and combat boots. Oh, and obviously anything high-waisted. I love all neutrals, basics and any classic and clean silhouettes. When it comes to accessories, I feel naked when I’m not wearing earrings, you seldom find me without a watch on and I have a terrible addiction to shoes.
Having said that, you would think that I would’ve easily figured out what I was going to pursue in my future, but actually, it took me a while to get where I am now. After changing from two different (and very boring) majors, I realized that I had been taking the safe route and that I wasn’t following my true passion. It wasn’t until this past fall semester that I found my true calling with RMPD, and I am so glad that I did. I guess the third time’s a charm right?
Enthusiastic and ready to learn about the industry, I got involved with organizations like the National Retail Federation Student Association, the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists and Fashion Inc. at Florida State. I also joined Swatch Magazine at FSU as a Marketing Director last semester, and will be working as both Bookings Director and Editor-in-Chief-in-Training this spring. I’ve been blessed with the many opportunities I have had thus far and continue to be thankful that I am doing something that I truly love. It has been a whirlwind of a semester, this past fall, but it’s all so exhilarating to me and I cannot wait for an even better spring semester to come!
