What Is Your Personal Sense of Style?

A few weeks ago I was talking with a friend about how she would classify her personal style. She said she wasn’t sure, but she noticed she was finding an aesthetic that she loved. For her, it was more of a boho, relaxed, but cute style. I stopped to think about what my aesthetic is, and it took me a second to pinpoint it. Living in Chicago I’m bombarded with fashion; it’s everywhere, regardless of whether or not I notice it. Even when I’m not aware of it, it plays an impact on my own style as well.

As much as I’d love to say my style is 100 percent unique, that wouldn’t be true. When I stopped to analyze my closet, I realized that the majority of my clothes have a very similar feel. If I was going to define it, I would say it’s modern and feminine. There are some trends that don’t look the best on me, but the off-the-shoulder look is one that I love and that looks great.

For spring and summer, dresses are a staple piece of my wardrobe. They can be so simple, but so classy. Staying true to my love for off-the-shoulder looks, I paired this off-the-shoulder jean dress from Forever 21 with a pair of nude lace up chunky heels from Nordstrom.

I’ve been on the hunt for comfortable heels for summer, and I found them. These shoes are so comfortable and cute: a rare find for heels.

In terms of accessories, I always wear the same five Alex and Ani bracelets. I also always wear my FitBit that I chose in rose gold and lavender to make it as fashionable as possible and whatever the current Lokai bracelet is. I decided to add a statement necklace and matching earrings from Charming Charlie that I purchased several years ago to add a little pop of color to complement the jean dress. Just as a final touch, I added my heart shaped aviators from Target, which are a fun summer pair of sunglasses.

When it comes down to it I might not have a completely unique sense of style, but that’s okay. I draw influence and inspiration from the world around me and add my own twist to it. There’s nothing wrong with using others as inspiration as long as you stay true to your own sense of self.

So I ask you, what’s your sense of style? If you aren’t sure, stop to think about it. Once you find your sense of style, post about it and make sure to tag us on social media @cfashionista!
