Hampton, Virginia is going through major weather confusion. One day it’s cold and snowing and only a few days later it’s sunny and 64 degrees. It’s so simple for the unstable weather to affect our moods and even our outfits! Fortunately, the Fashionistas/os at Hampton University don’t give in that easily. I spotted this Fashionista on campus who was definitely unwilling to let a little a little strange weather rain on her parade. Her well put together look and signature style are worthy of being recognized for this week’s FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT!
CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your personal style?
Taylor Pinckney: I would have to describe my style as preppy yet laid back. I like to be comfortable, yet I often choose pieces to dress up my chill look. I’m definitely a J. Crew and Madewell kind of girl.
CF: What is your favorite item in your closet right now?
TP: My favorite item would have to be my half tweed/half leather blazer from Zara. It’s black and red and has these gold zippers on the sleeves.
CF: Are you still enjoying winter fashion or would you prefer spring to hurry on up?
TP: I am still enjoying winter fashion. I like layering, sweaters, stockings and boots. However, I am definitely excited for warmer weather and wearing bright colors, florals and showing a little bit of skin!
CF: What was your most recent fashion purchase?
TP: My most recent purchase was a pair of black wedge sneakers! I’m really excited to wear them. I got them from DSW and it was a major score.
CF: How do you plan to style your new wedge sneakers?
TP: I think for my first look, I’m going to pair them with black riding pants, a cool flannel and a black fur vest.
How To: Who says florals can’t work all year-round? This Fashionista found an amazing pattern that perfectly completed her winter look. These similar black floral skinny jeans from Zumiez don’t need a lot of color to add a feminine touch to your outfit. To incorporate floral in a different way, these cherry blossom combat boots or a printed floral backpack will give your “off to class” look the perfect touch.
