The only thing that Hampton University students have probably been looking forward to more than the springtime weather is spring fashion! As the temperature begins to slowly rise, we can finally begin to trade in those heavy coats for lighter jackets and less layers. I spotted this Fashionista sporting the perfect transitional spring look. Her white floral necklace really stood out against her black turtleneck—almost like a little reminder that spring is here!
Name: Isidra Myricks
Major: Public Relations
Year: Senior
CollegeFashionista: Who or what influences your style?
Isidra Myricks: My mom has always been my biggest influence in fashion.
CF: What is one of your all time favorite pieces in your wardrobe?
IM: I would have to say this custom-made jumper that was gifted to me. It is made out of African cloth but still has this urban feel. It’s form-fitting yet casual, I love it.
CF: I love your necklace, are you usually a big fan of accessories?
IM: Yes! My mother has this big chest of jewelry and I used to always borrow her things. I feel like accessories are what make the outfit.
CF: What trend are you looking most forward to this spring/summer?
IM: Well I’ve really been interested in this peplum trend, so I’d like to try that out. I think for more full figured girls like myself, it’s very slimming. I also like the high-waist bikini bottoms that a lot of plus sized girls are wearing!
CF: If you could splurge on anything and money wasn’t a factor, what would it be?
IM: Definitely Christian Louboutin shoes! I think they are so classic and timeless.
How To: To achieve this Fashionista’s look you will need a light material turtleneck. Then pair it with a pair of lighter colored trousers and wedge booties. Most importantly, this look would just not be complete without a statement necklace.
