A little rain never hurt anybody, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have to be prepared. This Fashionista caught my eye particularly because of her windbreaker. It is a cute nautical look for a rainy day.
Rain during the summer time isn’t too stressful because you can usually just throw on some flip flops and a light jacket, but in the winter you have to get bundled up. There are three essentials every Fashionista needs to have for winter rain: rain boots, a windbreaker or waterproof winter coat and a cute umbrella.
As I have said in a previous post, rain boots are a must in college. Just a reminder, there are a bunch of great brands and styles. This Fashionista is wearing a classic tall Hunter boot.
Another great style is the duck boot because not only are they great for the rain, but also snow. A variety of brands make duck boots. Sperry Top-Sider makes a duck style slip-on in a floral pattern or solid colors.
A problem with rain boots is that they can look unprofessional. If you are dressed up for work, you don’t want to walk in wearing bright pink rain boots. A great style boot to avoid this is the Hingham boot. It’s professional, practical and can go with many looks.
Having a dependable winter coat or windbreaker is another essential for college. This Fashionista’s windbreaker gave her enough room to put on a vest and scarf underneath without looking too bundled up.
Vince Camuto has a great selection of puffer winter coats, parkas and trench coats and if you’re lucky you will be able to find them at Marshalls or Nordstrom Rack.
Spotted: Céline featured oversized winter coats in its fall 2012 Ready-to-Wear collection.
