Classes don’t start up again in Utrecht until the end of January, so while I’m home relaxing and definitely not complaining about having a six week winter break, I have been keeping my eyes open for local, stylish, college-aged girls and boys to interview for FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT. I spotted this Fashionista at a local restaurant and immediately admired her pale pink statement necklace. With J.Crew-inspired bubble necklaces appearing non-stop on Pinterest and style blogs, it was refreshing to see a slightly different version of the necklace. Statement necklaces add style and personality to any outfit, while remaining a top trends. I loved how this Fashionista was able to wear a trend without losing sense of her personal style.
Name: Kirsten Fabian
Major: Interior design
Year: Sophomore
College Fashionista: How would you describe your style?
Kirsten Fabian: I’m not sure how exactly I would describe it, but I know I wear a lot of bright colors and florals. Silk chiffon sleeved dresses and bold necklaces are also some of my favorites.
CF: What are your favorite places to shop?
KF: My favorite place in the world is probably Goodwill. I also love Urban Outfitters. However, Modcloth is by far my favorite store. I love all of their dresses.
CF: What item of clothing do you wear the most?
KF: I definitely wear long-sleeved, button-downs the most. I love them because they can be dressed up or down, they’re always comfortable and they look precious with a short, chunky necklace.
CF: Who inspires your style?
KF: I don’t think I necessarily have a style icon. My taste is constantly changing.
How To: To get this Fashionista’s look, start with finding a good version of her most-worn item — the long-sleeved button down. You could go with any pattern or color that suits you. For a trendy, dual-tone look, try this black and white option from ASOS. If you’re looking for something more feminine, try this floral, slightly sheer look from Modcloth. To add to the outfit and your wardrobe in general, look for a statement necklace. J.Crew has some fantastic options. For a pocketbook-friendly option, try an ombre, beaded statement necklace from Modcloth.
