One of my favorite staples in any Fashionista's closet is an oversized sweater. Thrown over your favorite pair of jeans, worn with leggings or playing peek-a-boo with a sexy dress beneath – the possibilities are endless with a slouchy sweater. Los Angeles weather is often too cool to go without some form of outerwear and too warm to haul around a jacket, so I always opt for one of my big cozy sweaters that will go with any outfit. This season, women get away with wearing a sweater and nothing else.
This week's Fashionista did the same. She wore the eternally fashionable sweater dress and combat boots to go with. Not only did she look adorable – but she was cozy and snug too! Her black and white striped, off-the-shoulder sweater has been done and redone everywhere, so you can get the look too.
When picking a sweater, I love cashmere. Wool and yarn are oftentimes too itchy for my super-sensitive skin so the softest alternative is my best bet. Cashmere can be expensive though, so the best time to scour for some is during the after-Christmas sale season.
Additionally, men’s sweaters are often better quality then the dainty, finicky women’s alternatives, so when looking for an oversized piece, don’t hesitate to shop in the men’s department.
To recreate this Fashionista’s look, go for a sweater dress like this crossed cable alternative. Paired with tights and boots, you won’t hesitate to walk out the door and face the chilly outdoors all the while looking chic. This off-the-shoulder shimmer sweater dress closely replicates what today's Fashionista was wearing. It has that same shoulder bearing, tight fit that I loved so much. With your hair pulled back tight and a great pair of hoop earrings, this easily shifts to nightwear.
The greatness of a sweater is its universality. It is a piece that anyone can partake in because there is a different fit for everyone. Even the sweater dress is adaptable to all body shapes because they are loose in all the right places and meant to keep you naturally beautiful and warm!
