One accessory that I must admit I do not think about a lot are socks. Usually I keep mine hidden beneath my boots, and I often opt to buy the cheapest pair of black or white socks available. However, I've recently been inspired to let my socks steal the spotlight. Pairing clothes with different patterned and colored socks can give a new life to any outfit you wear.
This week’s Fashionisto exemplifies how to not only show off your socks but how they can add to your outfit as well. He paired his red, white and black socks with a striped T-shirt and a simple pair of dark wash jeans. His socks match his shirt in an unique way, drawing attention to his shoes and his clothes. For all the men out there, take a cue from this Fashionisto and let your socks see a little light by rolling up your pants an inch or two. Try it out with a bright and colorful sock like these happy crew socks or try these socks, a little more muted, by Etro.
Fashionistas, on the other hand, try playing around with socks when wearing boots or flats with dresses and shorts for spring. Try metallic socks like these from Forever 21 or try these dual stripe socks in green and black or coral and black. Leave just enough of your socks out of your shoes to catch passerbys attention. This is an interesting way to add a little pop or color, texture or shine to your outfit! The best thing about this accessory? It probably won't break your bank account. So when trying to find ways to build new outfits without spending a lot of money, think about what you can do with a few pair of socks.
