Now that the snow is finally melting, the hill is once again rampant with winter boots, ballet flats and Sperry Top-Siders. An alternative to the Sperry that is elegant to look at and still just as comfortable is the loafer. With its relaxed toe shape, angular cut and prim piped lining, this shoe dresses up everything from leggings to jeans. A metallic color makes the loafer even more of a statement piece.
This Fashionista paired her silver loafers with a button down for an outfit that is both relaxed and chic. The silver loafers with her steely, light green shirt creates a cool color combination that really stands out against some of this season’s brighter color trends. Metallic and cotton are also two contrasting textures that pair together very well.
Forever New’s metallic loafers have a crackled effect that makes them look worn-in and comfortable while also adding to its metallic texture. For even more of a color pop, ASOS’s Manhattan loafer, which comes in a very sleek silver, ditches the rounded toe for a crisp point and some unexpected blue stripes. Urban Outfitters sells a silver loafer with snakeskin print and extra gloss if anyone wants to take the metallic loafer to another level.
Spotted: 3.1 Phillip Lim’s spring 2013 collection has metallic loafers, making them an accessory to look out for.
