The baseball hat is athletic and very specific, but adds a laid-back vibe to any outfit. It is the perfect accessory for for those busy days when all you have time to do is pull your hair back in a pony tail and run out the door. Aside from hectic week days, baseball hats work well for traveling, errands and relaxing on the weekend.

This Fashionista topped off her laid back Thursday look with a classic navy Vineyard Vines baseball cap. This neutral color pairs very well with her bright red pants and faded gray peacoat. Layering with a cream-colored knit top adds comfort and warmth, and is great for long trips to the library or trekking across campus. Worn-in Frye boots are the ultimate complement this on-the-go look. But just because you’ve thrown on a hat doesn’t mean you can’t accessorize, and this Fashionista has subtle but pretty gold hoop earrings.

Ralph Lauren has a serious hat section on their website, including a build-your-own style hat bar. You can choose from a variety of colors, country flags and also monograms. These create a very personalized look. Madewell’s baseball cap is softly worn in, faded, and designed by the Biltmore Hat Co., a celebrated traditional hattery. Vineyard Vines is another preppy staple with many color options, and it’s smiling whale has so much character.
