In fashion, and especially in the past couple of seasons, mixing and matching of all kinds is welcomed. When pairing something delicate with something tough you create a femme fatale look. Your ensemble is sexy, girly and bold, making a statement like no one else.
Today’s Fashionista had the ultimate bad-girl-meets-good-girl look. Red lips, leather jacket, a crème colored lace blouse and wedge booties gave her look that angelic, bad girl style. Her leggings were also embellished with leather tuxedo stripes down the sides. Her ensemble was the perfect mixture of leather and lace; even though you can't directly see the leather stripes, it's a great accent to catch at a glimpse.
Rihanna and Kim Kardashian have been spotted rocking this trend and designers, such as Jason Wu, are starting to incorporate mixing these two textures into their collections. Rosie Huntington Whitely was spotted wearing a dress from Jason Wu's 2013 spring collection at the Samsung Galaxy Note II Beverly Hills Launch Party. This dress incorporated a mix of lace and leather. The bold leather collar and detail around the neckline was balanced out by the sheer lace and chiffon mixture throughout the dress.
The direction of style in which your outfit can go depends on how much lace and leather you are wearing. For a bolder look, add more leather with lace accents like today’s Fashionista. For a softer look, play up your ensemble with more lace and less leather. Any color of lace will go great with leather; however, the trendiest lace colors of the season are nude, white and black.
Do you dare kick your ensemble into high gear this season with leather and lace? They do say opposites attract.
