We have used necklaces and scarves to decorate our necklines and give our outfits that extra pop of sophistication they needed. With embellished collars on the rise, another trend is making its way up the trend charts, decorating our neckline oh-so-perfectly. Bow-tied blouses are captivating girly girls everywhere, adding the perfect touch to soften up, sophisticate and glamorize any outfit.
Today’s Fashionista confidently strutted her bow-tied blouse on campus. I usually see bows tied to the center neckline of a blouse, as opposed to her side bow tie. These bows could be placed at the bottom, top or to the side of any blouse. A bow is such a simple addition, but like today’s Fashionista shows, it can completely transform an outfit. Bow-tied blouses are perfect for professional Fashionistas looking to make a sleek and sophisticated statement, or they can add the perfect accent to casual outfits needing that extra polish to top off the ensemble.
One of my favorite go-to blouses is bow-tied, black and chiffon. I love that these blouses can be so versatile — they complement many different styles. I can pair this shirt with jeans for a casual and glam look, or tuck it in to a high-waisted skirt for an interview or formal gathering.
Determine the style or look you are trying to achieve and start your ensemble off with a bow-tied blouse. Add jeans or embellished leggings topped off with boots for a casual-yet-polished look. Being that bows are usually tied at the neckline, avoid large and chunky necklaces that will take away from the bow. Accessorize with bold bangles, bracelets and rings. For a more formal look, pair your bow-tied blouse with an above-the-knee pencil skirt. Add a belt to a tucked in blouse and simple accessories, such as headbands or a few bracelets. Top this formal ensemble off with a pair of your favorite heels.
Elle named Gucci, Donna Karan and Jean Paul Gaultier's fall 2012 lines as the ones who demonstrated the “Lady” look the best. From bows to pencil skirts, dressing like a lady has never looked better!
